There was a time I thought my value came from what I did for other people. Picking up checks, going out of my way, trying to be enough. When that didn’t get the response I hoped for, I got frustrated. But no one asked me to do that. I chose it. Things changed when I stopped performing and started treating myself better. The people who mattered stayed, and what I found was peace. Self-respect first, everything else flows from that. Now, if I do something for someone, it’s a choice, not a transaction. There’s another edge to that balance that people pleasers know well. We’ll get into that next week. One win, one lesson, one next step.
